AFP-Missouri Welcomes President Trump, Applauds Speech On Tax Reform

Group Pleased with President Trump's Push for Tax Reform to Unrig American Economy

Springfield, MO – Americans for Prosperity (AFP) – Missouri is excited President Trump chose to deliver a speech today on his bold vision for tax reform in Springfield. Since the inauguration of President Trump and the start of the new Congress, AFP has made tax reform its highest policy priority, knowing it can spur economic growth and provide relief to families in Missouri and across the country

President Trump’s speech outlined an approach similar to AFP’s plan to unrig a tax code that has only benefited the wealthy. This approach includes restoring fairness by removing special carve-outs, and loopholes and slashing the business tax rate to spur economic and U.S. job growth.

By the end of September, AFP will have organized more than 60 tax reform events in 36 states. So far, AFP has spent over $2 million on tax reform advertising and promotion. In Missouri, the group has spent five figures in digital advertising urging members from both political parties to take advantage of this once-in-a-generation opportunity to pass comprehensive tax reform.

“President Trump’s speech outlined a bold vision for comprehensive tax reform, a vision all Americans can get behind,” said AFP-Missouri State Director Jeremy Cady. “His speech hit on all of AFP’s key principles for tax reform and the need for our code to be simpler, flatter, and fairer. We thank President Trump for choosing Missouri as the location to kick off his push for tax reform and look forward to working with him on our shared goal of comprehensive tax reform.”

Cady continued: “Sen. McCaskill has admitted our tax code is in need of repair and as a member of the Senate Finance Committee, we urge her to support any plan that makes our tax code more fairer, flatter, and simpler.”
